Blogial has a logo

Blogial now has got a new logo and I am really proud of it as it looks great. The symbol at the left shows that the blog network is entirely driven by the community. We all depend on people like you to contribute posts and articles to the blogs and we are sure that you too will gain a lot from the network - better exposure, fame, money, girls, etc. Ok, I am not confident about the things down in the list ;).

The day we decided on the name, I started thinking about a logo for the site and wanted something which was very simple - so simple that you can draw it by hand. And you would be amused to hear that I did draw the first cut of the logo by hand. I drew a very rudimentary piece using KolorPaint and drew a very bad replica of the current logo to show Sudarsan the idea.

Sudarsan who is great at Photoshop and Flash created some basic logos using MS Word in his office hours - using clipart (you wouldn’t want to see those). Then we both decided to stick to the original idea and he did some basic versions. I then decided to free some time and using Illustrator did a pretty good one in under 15 mins. Then corrected some of the mistakes and came up with the final product. Making it work under all browsers was a pain because of the IE6’s PNG transparency bug, but that will be a seperate post (under codelog.blogial?)

I hope the logo is good enough to be seen and I think it would look good on T-Shirts. Anyway, if you think I suck at logo designing feel free to comment here with links to your versions of the logo.

PS: Here is an easter egg - click on the logo in this post and you will get the logo which I first drew on my laptop using a trackpad.

    I am not great in any of the above mentioned. I just try to work in those softwares.

    Yeah. I tried to make logos from office using MS Paint and MS Word (I know that those sucks and are not ment to be used for logo making stuff — that was just an abstract though), but you get only those from offices like mine. May be I’m not lucky like cnu to have all the opensource applications running in my machine like a charm with unlimited internet connection. Afterall the big companies will always have loads of sickining policies. Anyways I’m happy that I atleast tried to make some contribution out of nothing towards our blogial.

    I have heard about that. But still it looks shrunk in ie (I don’t have FF here at office !! Same old policies !!!) — even the ad looks the same.

    @sudarsan
    You are better than me at PS and Flash. What I wanted to say was that if you had the tools that I had, you would have done a better logo than the one we have now.

    Its not about who contributes the most. In fact Sudarsan is very active in getting more people into the network - and the people that he brings in, do write nice posts.

    About the IE bug, I don’t think it looks shrunk. It looks perfect to me. If there is some anomaly with the logo, send us a screenshot at adm@blogial.com. Also we would like more suggestions from all of you about the site.

    Even I didn’t mean about contribution. I just wanted tell how bad the policies are in some of the big companies (MNCs).

    Ok. Now we have a logo for Blogial. What about its siblings. I mean codelog, in and oz. I think we shall also have logos for those. Try making logos for each of those. This time you can even make it in MS Excel ;-) ;-) . Lets make it together.

    Yeah sure. If you come up with something really nice we can have them up too. Just provide links to your logos here and we can all decide it online.

    I am doing a mascot for codelog. I will give a link in here once it is done.
